RadonScout is an independent directory of Iowa's state-credentialed radon testing and mitigation professionals — currently 166 companies across 98 Iowa cities. This page explains how listings are compiled and verified, how (and when) we publish pricing, and how to reach us.
Every listing starts from Iowa HHS's own credential rosters — the state's official lists of who currently holds an active Iowa radon mitigation or measurement credential. From there, each company is cross-checked against its own website, Google Places, and Facebook (when Google Places had no result), to confirm the business is real, reachable, and that its listed phone number and site actually belong to it.
Three tiers appear on each city page, labeled rather than hidden:
We only publish a price when there are at least 5 verified paid-job prices from at least 3 different contractors in the same metro, and only from sources where a customer describes a completed job and states what they paid — not a contractor's advertised "starting at" quote. Most Iowa metros don't clear that bar yet, and we don't show a price for those. We'd rather publish nothing than round a thin sample into a number that sounds more confident than it is.
RadonScout doesn't accept payment from any contractor to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. Every listing appears because it matched a state credential record — not because of any payment. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page.
